GreenLab has been officially designated as one of Denmark’s national industrial parks under the government’s new Red Carpet shceme – a recognition of GreenLab’s role as a frontrunner for green industry and for Denmark’s international competitiveness. As Denmark’s first circular industrial park directly connected to renewable energy, GreenLab has already set new standards for how heavy industry can be electrified and share resources efficiently. The Red Carpet status now gives GreenLab an even stronger platform to attract new production companies, expand existing ones, and accelerate the transition of green industrial production.
Unlocking growth and innovation in 11 new parks
The Red Carpet scheme is a government initiative designed to remove bureaucracy, fast-track permits, and provide dedicated support for industrial projects. of national significance. Out of 29 applicants across Denmark, 11 industrial parks have been selected, including GreenLab.
“This appointment is an important recognition. It allows us to accelerate the development of future green technologies and create an even better platform for both existing and new companies in our industrial park. GreenLab is where industry is electrified and where new solutions are tested at scale. With this new status, we can scale solutions even faster,” says Thomas Helsgaun, CEO of GreenLab.
Strong local impact
For Skive Municipality, which co-owns GreenLab, the designation is both a local victory and a national milestone.“It is fantastic news that we have been selected as a national industrial park. This recognition opens many new opportunities to attract international companies in the near future. With an electrified green industrial park like GreenLab, we can demonstrate how sustainable production can be achieved while also creating growth and jobs in a rural district,” says Peder Christian Kirkegaard, Mayor of Skive. Municipal Director Thomas Lindberg adds: “Our green ambitions have been recognized at a national level, and we look forward to contributing to Denmark’s green growth journey through GreenLab.”
Denmark steps up industrial policy
Behind the Red Carpet initiative is a broad political agreement in the Danish Parliament. The goal is clear: to make it easier and faster for production companies to establish and expand in Denmark and to ensure that the country remains an attractive place to invest and create jobs. The designation of GreenLab as a national industrial park confirms our role as a blueprint for the green industry of the future:a place where renewable energy, industrial symbiosis, and innovation go hand in hand to create both greener solutions and sound business cases.
